If I Can Do It, You Can Do It Too

Less than one year ago, Welma had days when she couldn’t leave her bed because it was too painful. Like many other Americans with persistent pain, Welma had a complex history of other diagnoses that complicated her treatment plan.

“I let them load me up on a lot of medications for several years and they had discussed possibly doing surgery to relieve the pinched nerve in my back.”

But Welma chose a different approach to treating her pain. Within a year of starting Hinge Health, she went from being unable to touch her toes to going on daily hikes and teaching yoga in her community. She’s lost 90 pounds (and still counting!) and made considerable improvements to both her lifestyle and her health.

“It’s a big deal to be able to bend down and touch your toes and hold downward-facing dog when you couldn’t go from the bedroom to the bathroom.”

For the first time, Welma feels empowered to take control of her health and attributes her success to the new tools she’s obtained. Welma learned to use movement as her medicine so her health doesn’t get in the way of her goals.

“It’s all about building a better you. It’s taught me instead of taking a pill, to get out and move. I don’t think I will ever consider surgery now. If anything, a marathon is in my future.”

“If I can do it, you can do it too.”

What are you noticing as movement becomes your medicine?
