Dear Provider,

I have been working with your patient in the Hinge Health joint replacement surgery program, an employer-provided health benefit.

As you know, a successful joint replacement involves comprehensive care before and after surgery. Hinge Health assists patients through the entire surgery process by providing education, emotional support, and a personalized exercise therapy plan. We deliver this experience through a digital platform that allows for easy access to support in between provider visits.

Before surgery, patients are taught to set realistic expectations for their recovery. As their personal health coach, I also hold them accountable to pre-surgery strengthening exercises, helping them understand the importance of movement to a successful outcome and building a consistent exercise routine. Our exercises are designed by our team of physical therapists and help to stretch, strengthen, and create healthy activation patterns of muscles that are important to joint function.

After surgery, I check in with patients regularly, ultimately working with them to:

  • Navigate the ups and downs of surgery recovery.

  • Feel empowered to take control of their healing process.

  • Help them set goals for their recovery and track their progress.

  • Hold them accountable to their rehabilitative exercises.

  • Make adjustments to their exercises as needed.

To that end, Hinge Health is just one piece of your patient's surgical care and we strive to partner with all members of their care team. For instance, I can add many exercises from their in-person physical therapy sessions to their Hinge Health app to help create a more cohesive recovery process where all parts of their care model work together.
