Director of Compliance San Francisco, CA

Hinge Health offers digital delivery of best-practice care for chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain without resorting to drugs or surgery. We accomplish this through a program based on three core pillars: exercise therapy, coaching & lifestyle, and education. Exercise is tracked through a mobile application and wearable sensors, and a personal health coach adds vital support and motivation.

Our results are inspiring and leads to measurable drops in pain and surgery likelihood. Witnessing some of the patient testimonials sits among the most precious moments of working here.

We partner with brand-name corporations to offer our kit to their employees, usually covered as part of the overall benefits package. This creates a rare win-win scenario where all people benefit from our continued success – and we're growing fast!

As an entity subject to HIPAA law, we set ourselves to a high standard to keep our users’ private health information safe. As the director of compliance, you will be a key decision maker in information security, problem solving, and relationship management to lead our compliance efforts. You will work with the engineering and commercial teams to identify pain points and gaps in our existing policy frameworks and find compliant solutions to move the business forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, assess, and advise on IT and business-related compliance risks and controls continuously. Influence stakeholders to close gaps in control frameworks.
  • Coordinate, manage and facilitate compliance processes with internal and external stakeholders to provide timely deliverables and rapid remediations.
  • Identify, create and measure process and control improvements that automate manual steps, consolidate bespoke processes and scale with growth.
  • Deliver project reporting utilizing tools to track planning, scheduling, issues, risks and overall status of compliance efforts.
  • Use data to architect metrics, solve problems and impact executive decision making.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Compliance, information security, IT audit and/or risk management experience (ISO 27001, HIPAA, SOC).
  • Experience implementing and managing programs, designing and implementing processes/controls, with a background in the internet industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization to facilitate the implementation of compliance programs including requirements consultation, readiness, audit and remediation.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communications skills.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with security compliance frameworks, controls, and best practices (any of the following): AICPA Trust Principles (SSAE 16 - SOC 2 and 3), ISO 27000 Series, PCI DSS, SANS CIS Critical Security Controls, and other regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Startup or digital healthcare experience.

React Frontend Engineer San Francisco, CA

Hinge Health offers digital delivery of best-practice care for chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain without resorting to drugs or surgery. We accomplish this through a program based on three core pillars: exercise therapy, coaching & lifestyle, and education. Exercise is tracked through an Android app and wearable sensors, and a personal health coach adds vital support and motivation.

Our tech stack is powered by: AWS, Aptible, Postgres, Redis, RoR, Android, React, and we are looking to add React Native for iOS this year.

For the frontend engineer role we are looking for people who understand React and can see why it’s one of the best ways to do UI programming today. Our latest SPA is written using Typescript and Redux – while we don’t require experience with either technology it’s a huge plus if you already understand them. We encourage cross-training and there will be opportunity to generalize into a full-stack role if the aptitude is there.

Our engineering team is led by people who truly care about doing right by the world, and inhumane practices of all kinds are verboten. In addition we stand strongly by good engineering principles, so concepts like linting and testing are given due respect. Those who enjoy the fundamentals of computer science like judicious use of data structures, FP, and algorithms will thrive here. That said, our interview process won’t require whiteboarding, live coding, or arbitrary algorithm puzzles. Instead, we encourage people to show off personal projects and draw out ideas they find interesting.

The HQ is in SF, with a smaller satellite London office from the former HQ. We work best as a close-knit team, so the role is for full time on site in SF.

Daily wellness sessions and paid-for parkside lunches are among the things that makes the day-to-day here quite a blast. We offer competitive salary for the area and a solid benefits package that should work for everyone.
