Updating Your Hinge Health App

In order to benefit from our latest features and improvements, you will need to update your Hinge Health app to the latest version. This takes less than 2 minutes.

  • iOS (iPhones or iPads)

  • Android phones or tablets

  • Kindle Fire tablet

iOS (iPhone or iPad)

If you have automatic app updates enabled on your iPhone or iPad, your Hinge Health app will automatically be updated when a new version is released. If not, you will need to manually update the app.

To check if you have automatic app updates enabled (and enable these if you wish):
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > App Store.

  2. On the App Store settings page, look for ‘App Updates’ under the ‘Automatic Downloads’ header, and turn this on / off as you wish.

If you prefer to update your Hinge Health app manually:

If you have automatic app updates turned off, you’ll receive a push notification from the App Store each time an update for your Hinge Health app is released.

  1. To update your app, either:

Tap the App Store push notification for Hinge Health when it appears. This should take you to the App Store page for the Hinge Health app.

Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, and navigate to the Hinge Health app page.

  1. On the Hinge Health App Store page, click the ‘Update’ button.

  2. Once your app has updated, click the ‘Open’ button to try it out!

Android phone or tablet

If you have automatic updates enabled on your Android device, your Hinge Health app will automatically be updated when a new version is released. If not, you will need to manually update the Hinge Health app.

To check if you have automatic updates enabled (and turn these on if you wish):
  1. Open the Google Play Store app

  1. Tap Menu

  1. Tap Settings

  1. Tap Auto-update apps

  1. Select an option:

    Over any network to update apps using either Wi-Fi or mobile data.

    Over Wi-Fi only to update apps only when connected to Wi-Fi.


If you prefer to update your Hinge Health app manually:
  1. Open the Google Play Store app

  1. Tap Menu

  1. Tap My apps & games

  2. Apps with an update available are labeled "Update." You can also search for a specific app.

  3. Tap Update.

  4. Once your app has updated, click the ‘Open’ button to try it out! If you do not see an ‘Open’ button you may need to tap on the Hinge Health app on your device to re-open the app.

Kindle Fire tablet

  1. Open and log into the Hinge Health app on your Kindle Fire.

  2. Once you are logged into the app, there are two ways to check if an update is available:

    Option 1: Look for an ‘Update available’ button at the bottom of the Home screen on your app (see screenshot below), and click this button.

Option 2: If you were expecting to see an app update on the Home screen and didn’t, there’s another way to check:

Click the ‘Account’ button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

On the Account page, look for an ‘Update available’ button next to ‘App version’ (you might need to scroll down to see this). Click this button.

1. Once you have clicked the ‘Update available’ button, you will see a screen that lets you know what’s in this new version of the Hinge Health app. Click the ‘Update’ button in the bottom right corner to continue.

2. Your tablet will then download the latest version of the Hinge Health app.

3. Once the app update is downloaded, you’ll see a screen asking you to install it. Tap the ‘INSTALL’ button in the bottom right corner.

4. Once the update is installed, tap the ‘OPEN’ button in the bottom right hand corner to try out your updated Hinge Health app! If you don't see an 'OPEN' button you may need to tap on the Hinge Health app on your device to re-open the app.
