Am I eligible for a consultation with a Hinge Health Orthopedic Specialist?

Accepted Answer

You are eligible for an orthopedic specialist consultation if Hinge Health's exercise therapy program is available to you as a benefit through your employer and your employer is also offering access to orthopedic specialist consultations in the location where you reside. Individuals who meet this eligibility criteria may schedule a consultation regardless of whether you have an existing Hinge Health account. If you are unsure whether your employer offers Hinge Health and / or orthopedic specialist consultations as a benefit in your state, you can email specialtycare@hingehealth.com and a member of our team will assist you in determining your eligibility.

Hinge Health has the following additional exceptions to orthopedic specialist consultations for individuals who are otherwise eligible through their employer:
- If you were injured on the job or have an open workers compensation case, are enrolled in a federal health insurance program, had surgery in the last 6 months, a fracture or were evaluated and treated for cancer regarding the body focus area(s) you wish to discuss with an orthopedic specialist, we cannot treat you at this time but hope to in the future, and encourage you to seek care with another provider
- Some symptoms are not clinically appropriate to treat in the virtual setting; if you present with certain symptoms during registration we may recommend you to seek urgent in person care.

Is this service right for me?

A video consultation with a Hinge Health orthopedic specialist is great for you if you are experiencing joint, muscle or spine pain and:
- You want to learn more about your pain and available options
- You want help getting the most appropriate treatment to achieve your long term goals
- You want to talk about surgery, whether you need it and if so, what kind

If you are currently experiencing any of the below symptoms, then please consider seeking emergency care immediately. Hinge Health does not provide emergency care and a video consultation may not be right for you.
- Your symptoms are a result of a recent car accident, fall, head injury/concussion or crush injury
- You have or think you may have a broken or fractured bone and/or a dislocated joint
- You have signs of infection (redness, swelling, tenderness of the area, fever, chills, or open wounds)
- You have pain and swelling in one or both calves
- You have severe pain or tense swelling of your arms and / or legs where motion of your fingers and / or toes increases your pain
- You are experiencing any of the following symptoms: loss of bowel control, loss of sensation in the genitals or legs, inability to urinate (these are signs of cauda equina syndrome)

How do I sign up?

If you received a promotional email, mailer, or message about this new services, you'll be instructed to enroll in our program through a brief questionnaire and then you should receive an email and/or SMS message with a link to schedule your visit! If you have completed the questionnaire and still have not received a message with a scheduling link, please reach out the specialtycare@hingehealth.com.

If you already have an account with Hinge Health and your eligible for this service you may receive a in app message or an email with information about how to schedule a visit. You can also reach out to your care team for more information about if your are eligible for this service and if it is right for you.
