Consortium Health Plans Partners with Hinge Health to Tackle Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

San Francisco, CA (June 16, 2020) - After surveying multiple solutions, Consortium Health Plans announces a preferred partnership with Hinge Health, the world’s #1 digital musculoskeletal (MSK) solution for employers and health plans, to address MSK care. In the world’s largest digital MSK study, Hinge Health’s Digital MSK Care Pathways were proven to directly reduce chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and utilization of elective surgeries. This new partnership provides Consortium's member plans and their National Account members with guidance on a preferred partner to address high MSK spend with Hinge Health's digital exercise therapy and health coaching solution.

“The solutions surrounding musculoskeletal conditions for National Accounts are a top priority,” said Dr. Aamir Rehman, SVP of Clinical Innovations and Partnerships at Consortium Health Plans. “The need for access to top virtual care solutions has been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe that Hinge Health is leading the way with meaningful engagement and outcomes.”

Musculoskeletal conditions are the leading contributor to disability worldwide, with 1 out of 2 Americans suffering from chronic MSK pain. The first large-scale study recently published by Stanford, University of California San Francisco, and Vanderbilt researchers found Hinge Health’s digital MSK solution reduced each participant’s pain by an average of 69% and saved $5,012.52 per participant per year. The addition of Hinge Health as a digital MSK treatment option for members is a testament to Consortium's pursuit to identify best-in-class health technology and evolve digital delivery of best practice care.

For Hinge Health, this partnership represents another key milestone. Coming on the heels of phenomenal growth in 2020, Hinge Health’s customer count is up nearly 4x year over year, approaching 150 employer clients. As leaders in the market, 4 in 5 employers with a digital MSK solution have chosen Hinge Health, who is in the process of adding another 1.5 million lives this summer.

“At Hinge Health, our mission is to be your healthcare co-pilot - ensuring health doesn’t get in the way of your goals. We are excited to partner with Consortium to be a co-pilot for health plans and members to tackle chronic MSK pain, the root cause of avoidable back and joint surgeries, with the three pillars of best practice care: exercise therapy, behavioral coaching, and education,” said Hinge Health CEO and co-founder Daniel Perez.

Together, Hinge Health and the Consortium Health Plans will help employers across the country improve member health and drive measurable cost savings by digitally delivering best practice musculoskeletal care to reduce pain and surgeries.
