How to free up storage space on your iOS device

See if your device has any optimization recommendations Check out your device’s storage overview to see recommendations for storage optimization by following these steps:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap ‘General’.

  3. Tap ‘[Device] Storage’.

  4. From there you can follow up on any of the provided optimization recommendations.

Delete unused apps that are taking up a lot of storage space Find out how much storage each one of your apps uses, and consider if there are any you can delete to get more space:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap ‘General’.

  3. Tap ‘[Device] Storage’.

  4. Review your apps and how much storage each one uses.

  5. Identify any apps you may want to delete, then return to your device home screen to find them.

  6. Touch and hold the app.

  7. Tap ‘Remove App’.

  8. Tap ‘Delete App’, then tap ‘Delete’ to confirm.

How to free up storage and memory space on your Android device

To get more space on your Android device, try freeing up storage or memory.

  • Storage is where you keep data, like music and photos.

  • Memory is where you run programs, like apps and the Android system.

Ways to free up storage

Free up memory by deleting unused apps that are taking up a lot of space Find out which of your apps are using the most memory, and consider if there are any you can delete to get more space:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’.

  2. Tap ‘System’.

  3. Tap ‘Developer options’.

  4. Tap ‘Memory’.

  5. Tap ‘Memory used by apps’ to see a list of the average memory used by each of your apps.

  6. Identify any apps you may want to delete.

  7. Open the Google Play Store app.

  8. At the top right, tap the ‘Profile’ icon.

  9. Tap ‘Manage apps & devices’, then tap ‘Manage’.

  10. Tap the name of the app you want to delete, then tap ‘Uninstall’.
