Falanda’s story shows what that can look like when digital care, specialist support, and in-person care work together in one connected experience.

People in pain don’t know what to do next, and that confusion pushes them into a fragmented, expensive journey with unnecessary imaging, injections, and surgery. Hinge Health delivers care as one connected experience—combining same-day digital care, virtual orthopedic visits, and a high-performance in-person network.

That's why we want to share Falanda's story.

From feeling defeated to feeling in charge again

Falanda describes a life centered on family, time with her grandson, and relaxing at the beach. But after years of worsening pain, even sleeping on her side became difficult.

Five years after the soreness first began, the pain had become severe enough that she sought orthopedic care. She was told she had bursitis and that a cortisone shot would take care of it, but she left that appointment feeling defeated and unsure where to turn next.

That changed when she remembered receiving a Hinge Health postcard and decided to get connected. She started with a video visit with a physical therapist, who listened, asked thoughtful questions, and created a personalized exercise playlist. What surprised her was that Hinge Health did not stop there.

Care that went beyond physical therapy

Falanda learned she could also see a Hinge Health orthopedic provider by video. In that appointment Falanda said, “I felt seen and heard for the first time.”

Once she shared her MRI and X-ray results, she was told that the real issue was a bulging disc. From there, she was guided to an in-person physical therapist who partners with Hinge Health, with a treatment plan of therapy three times a week. The facility, in her words, was phenomenal.

For benefits leaders, this is the kind of moment that matters. Falanda’s story is not just about access to one service. It is about a member moving through escalating levels of care without having to start over, navigate alone, or piece together the next step for themselves.

A benefit she could actually use

One of the most powerful moments in Falanda’s story is not clinical. It is financial.

“To learn that the visits were no cost to me was everything because I’m so used to having out-of-pocket medical expenses.” That detail matters because even highly effective care can lose impact when cost becomes a barrier.

Proof that connected care can change outcomes

Falanda continued doing exercises in the app alongside in-person physical therapy. As a result, she says she is now relieved of pain without needing any shots.

More than pain relief

Falanda feels that Hinge Health gave her power back. She feels freedom. She feels in charge of her life.

When a musculoskeletal benefit is easy to access, clinically connected, and affordable to use, it can do more than reduce pain. It can help employees feel supported, confident, and able to get back to the life they want to live.
