What is the Hinge Health program?

Hinge Health is a digital program that provides you with access to personal coaching and exercise therapy for back and knee pain from the comfort of your own home in as little as 45 minutes per week.

No, Hinge Health is subject to federal HIPAA guidelines and does not share results or protected health information with Southern Company or other third parties.

What happens if I am eligible and choose to enroll in the program?

If you qualify and choose to enroll in the 12-week program, Hinge Health will send you a kit that includes two wearable sensors and a tablet computer, completely set up for you. The sensors guide you through a personalized routine of stretching and strengthening exercises. The exercises are based on expert recommendations, take as little as 45 minutes per week, and you can do them whenever and wherever you choose. Every activity is logged and every goal documented, so you'll be able to track your progress over time, aiming for ever higher goals.

Hinge Health will also connect you with a personal health coach to guide you through the 12-week program and beyond. You’ll start with a one-on-one call, during which your coach will get to know you and your goals. Your coach will be in constant contact throughout the program, tailoring it to your needs, keeping you motivated, and ensuring you stay on track. And because healthy habits are necessary to ensure the pain doesn’t come back, Hinge Health will continue to provide support after the 12-week program ends.

Research shows that a comprehensive and personalized approach is most effective when managing chronic knee and back pain, so Hinge Health provides the full toolkit: exercise therapy, education about your condition, unlimited personal coaching, and help with stress and low mood.

Does Hinge Health replace in person physical therapy or surgery?

No. Hinge Health is not meant to replace in person physical therapy or surgery when required. It is intended to be a convenient avenue for you to receive best practice care.

No, only your medical provider can offer this.

Who are the Hinge Health coaches?

Hinge Health coaches are a team of wellness professionals with healthcare and life science backgrounds and extensive training. They will engage and motivate you throughout the program to help you realize your health goals. The information they provide is not intended to replace a licensed professional’s medical advice.

Can I use this service when I am away from home or traveling?

Absolutely! The Hinge Health program is designed to complement your life, not interrupt it. All you need to do when you’re on the go is connect your tablet to wifi from time to time. And if you don’t have access to wifi, just let your coach know and they’ll help you out.

Can Hinge Health be used for anything associated with workers’ comp injuries?

If you have experienced a work related injury, please contact your local Disability Management group before utilizing the Hinge Health program.

They’re yours to keep forever.

Can someone complete both the knee and back program?

Yes, but not simultaneously. If your back is causing you more pain than your knee, we suggest you complete that program first. The same is true if your knee is causing more pain. Once you complete the first program, you’re welcome to begin the second. Each program has unique sensors, so we’ll ship you an additional kit when you begin the seconds program.
